Ma Meals ("we", "our", "us") is a meal planning app that helps families record, plan, and shop for meals. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

What we collect

• Account information — email address and name, provided when you sign up. Managed by our authentication provider, Clerk.
• Meal data — meals you create, including names, notes, ingredients, ratings, tags, and photos. This is the core data you choose to enter.
• Plan and shopping data — your weekly meal plans and shopping list states.
• Product links — when you link ingredients to grocery store products, we store the product name, price, and URL from the store's public website.
• Device information — basic device type and operating system for app functionality. No advertising identifiers.

How we use your data

• To provide the app's features: storing your meals, syncing across devices, generating shopping lists.
• To enable family sharing when you join or create a family group.
• To display grocery product prices when you link ingredients to store products.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Where your data is stored

• On your device — meal data is stored locally in SQLite for offline use.
• In the cloud — when signed in, data syncs to Cloudflare D1 (database) and R2 (photos), hosted on Cloudflare's global network.
• Authentication — account management is handled by Clerk (clerk.com), which stores your email and authentication tokens.

Grocery store data

When you browse grocery store websites within the app to link products, the app uses Cloudflare Browser Rendering to extract product information (name, price, URL) from the page you're viewing. This data is cached on our servers to show prices to other users. We do not access your store accounts or personal shopping history.

Family sharing

When you create or join a family group, your meals, plans, and shopping lists are shared with all family members. Leaving a family removes your access to shared data. Meals you choose not to bring when joining a family are permanently deleted.

Data retention

• Your data is kept as long as your account exists.
• Signing out clears data from your device. Signing back in restores it from the cloud.
• Account deletion removes all your data from our servers.

Your rights

• You can export your data at any time by sharing your meals and shopping lists from the app.
• You can delete your account and all associated data.
• You can use the app without an account (guest mode) — data stays on your device only.

Children

Ma Meals is a family app but is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app.
