Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Ma Meals mobile application ("App") and related services ("Service"). By downloading, installing, or using Ma Meals, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1.Acceptance & Authority
You represent that you are at least 13 years old (or older if required in your jurisdiction) and have the authority to enter into this agreement. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian must review and approve these Terms.
2.Service Description
Ma Meals is a meal planning application that enables you to record meals, create weekly plans, maintain shopping lists, and share data with family members. The App operates on a local-first model with optional cloud sync via your account. Features are offered on a free tier with limits; paid plans may be introduced in the future.
3.User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current information when creating your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access or security breach
- Not share your credentials with others
- Accept responsibility for all actions taken through your account
4.Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use Ma Meals to:
- Engage in commercial use or resale of the Service or any content (free plan only)
- Deploy automated tools, bots, scrapers, or scripts to access or interact with the App
- Abuse system resources or intentionally disrupt Service availability
- Spam, harass, or engage in abusive behaviour toward other users
- Upload, share, or link to adult content, sexually explicit material, or content depicting violence or harm
- Violate intellectual property rights, privacy, or laws applicable in your jurisdiction
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code
- Use the App in any manner that could damage, disable, or impair the Service
Violations may result in account suspension or termination at our sole discretion.
5.User Content & Family Sharing
You retain ownership of the content you create (meals, photos, plans, lists). However:
- When you share data with a family group, all family members can access, view, and use that shared content
- You grant the App a non-exclusive licence to store, process, and display your content to facilitate the Service
- Meal photos and linked product information may be cached on our servers to improve performance
- Photos and content are stored with family-level scoping—family members see shared data; non-family users cannot
6.Leaving a Family Group
If you leave a family group:
- You immediately lose access to all shared data within that family
- Data you shared with the family remains accessible to other family members
- Meals, plans, and shopping lists you did not create or own are no longer visible to you
- Leaving is permanent; rejoining requires an invitation and re-syncing
7.Account Termination & Deletion
Automatic deletion: Accounts with no activity for 6 months will be automatically deleted without notice. All associated data will be permanently removed from our servers.
Manual deletion: You can request account deletion at any time through the App settings. Deletion is permanent and non-reversible. All your data will be removed within 30 days.
Data backup: We maintain backups for your data as long as your account is active. You are responsible for exporting or backing up your own data if you require a copy.
8.No Medical or Dietary Advice
Ma Meals is a meal planning and record-keeping tool only. We do not provide medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. Any information in the App or provided by the Service is for informational purposes only and should not be construed as professional health guidance. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider or dietitian for dietary or medical concerns.
9.Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that:
- The App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or secure
- Defects will be corrected
- Data will never be lost, corrupted, or inaccessible
- Third-party services (Clerk, Cloudflare) will remain available
- Grocery product prices or product information will be accurate or current
10.Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages (including lost profits, data loss, or business interruption) arising from your use or inability to use the Service
- Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or AUD $100 if you have made no payments
- Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability; in such cases, our liability will be limited to the extent permitted by law
11.Third-Party Services
The App integrates with third-party services including Clerk (authentication), Cloudflare (cloud storage), and grocery store websites. We are not responsible for:
- Availability, reliability, or performance of third-party services
- Their terms of service, privacy practices, or content
- Any damage or loss resulting from your use of third-party services
Review their terms and privacy policies separately.
12.Privacy
Your use of Ma Meals is also governed by our Privacy Policy, available at mameals.app/privacy. Please review it to understand our data practices.
13.Intellectual Property
The App, including all code, design, trademarks, and content created by us, is our property or licensed to us. You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, or exploit any part of the App without written permission. User-generated content (your meals, photos, plans) remains your property.
14.Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the App or via email. Your continued use of the Service following such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We recommend reviewing this page periodically.
15.Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia. You agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.
16.Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect, and the invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid.
17.Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Ma Meals regarding the Service and supersede all prior negotiations, understandings, and agreements.
